Entire Countries, NOT Just Members of US Congress, Now Feel the Jack Boot of Israeli Pressure

Content with its near total control of the U.S. Congress and U.S. Middle East policy, as witnessed by the rapturous welcome Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu recently received from a joint session of Congress, the Israel Lobby is extending its tentacles globally in order to ensure that a Palestinian strategy to obtain recognition from the UN General Assembly in September fails to get off the ground.

Jewish groups in the United States and Jewish politicians around the world are joining the Netanyahu government in offering “carrots and sticks” to countries around the world in a campaign designed to lure votes in the General Assembly away from Palestine in a vote on UN recognition of independence for the disputed territories. WMR previously reported that the Obama administration was also pressuring members of the UN General Assembly not to vote for Palestine independence.

On May 25, WMR reported: “. . . the United States will use every pressure point to ensure that the UN General Assembly does not make an end run around a U.S. veto in the UN Security Council of a resolution to grant Palestine UN recognition within 1967 borders. A Cold War-era provision known as “Uniting for Peace,” or Resolution 377, can be used to circumvent a U.S. veto in the Security Council to bring the cause of Palestine recognition to the General Assembly, where the vote of the United States is the same as tiny Nauru in the Pacific. If two-thirds of the General Assembly vote for Palestine, the U.S. veto in the Security Council is trumped. The General Assembly can also recommend the imposing of sanctions on Israel for violating the sovereignty of an independent Palestine, a scenario that the Obama administration, Israel, and AIPAC will do everything in their power to prevent.”

UN and Middle East sources have told WMR that Israeli government representatives are now fanning out across the world, in some cases with bags of cash, in an effort to bribe small nations into voting against a Palestine recognition resolution in the General Assembly. On May 25, WMR reported:

“WMR has learned that Netanyahu and his aides, working with State Department officials like Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg, Susan Rice, [US Mission to UN Economic Counselor Courtney] Nemroff, and others, have been coming up with “hit lists” of small and poor nations to be bullied into voting against or abstaining on the Palestine Uniting for Peace resolution. Israeli officials have recently visited small south Pacific nations like Tonga to convince them to vote no on Uniting for Peace for Palestine.”

The United States is expected to use its veto in the Security Council to block Palestine’s membership application. However, if 129 members of the 193-member General Assembly, two-thirds of the Assembly that is expected to add South Sudan as its 193rd member, vote for Palestine’s recognition, the cause for membership will be greatly enhanced and the United States will stand alone as the one country that blocked UN membership for Palestine.

– WMR has now learned that Israeli officials turned up in Tonga with cash bribes for Tongan officials in order to buy the small island nation’s vote.In April, the Israeli Knesset speaker, Reuven Rivlin, visited Tonga in Israel’s first effort to sway the country’s vote. Last year, Tonga sent a high-level delegation to the first Arab League-Pacific Islands summit in Abu Dhabi.

Tonga is not the only small nation to be subjected to intense lobbying by Israel and leaders of World Jewry to oppose Palestine at the UN. Israel and its wealthy Jewish supporters around the world have promised some countries, all tourist destinations, that they can count on increased tourism and tourism infrastructure investment from Jewish interests if they vote against Palestine. Even Muslim tourist destinations have not been immune to this pressure. Ahmed Naseem, the Foreign Minister of Maldives, a predominantly Muslim island nation in the Indian Ocean, recently concluded a visit to Israel where he met with President Shimon Peres and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman. Naseem was reminded that a no vote or abstention on Palestine at the UN could mean more Israeli tourists for Maldives, who do not require a visa to visit the country. Israel and Maldives restored diplomatic relations in 2009.

– In February, East Timor’s President, Jose Ramos-Horta, visited Jerusalem and was offered Israeli security and agricultural assistance in return for a no vote or abstention on Palestine.

– Pressure has also been applied to Comoros, a primarily Muslim island nation in the Indian Ocean that does not recognize Israel but maintains trade relations with Tel Aviv, and Mauritius, another country that could benefit from increased Israeli and Jewish tourism.

– In addition to Israeli government officials, representatives of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and American Jewish Committee have applied lobbying pressure on the governments of other destinations for American Jewish tourists, including Bahamas, Barbados, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago, St. Lucia, Bhutan, St. Kitts-Nevis, Dominica, Seychelles, Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, and Samoa. Israeli and U.S. pressure have also been brought to bear on five Pacific island nations that have voted for Israel in the past — Micronesia, Papua New Guinea, Palau, Marshall Islands, and Nauru.

– In countries like Costa Rica and Panama, Israel is relying on Jewish leaders like Costa Rican Vice President Luis Lieberman and Panama Tourism Minister Solomon Shamah, recently implicated in leaked US State Department cables in drug smuggling, to ensure that the two nations remain in Israel’s camp. With Colombia already in Israel’s court, there will be an attempt to peel away Latin American nations that previously recognized Palestine, including Chile, Guyana, and Suriname, to either vote no on Palestine or abstain.

– Israel is also concentrating its efforts on three Southeast Asian nations that have not recognized Palestine as independent. Israeli promises of military and intelligence assistance are being used to ensure a no vote or abstention by Myanmar and military aid agreements are being dangled in front of Singapore and Thailand. Israeli [backed by U.S. and Canadian] aid packages are also being used to lobby Sri Lanka, Kenya, Lesotho, Swaziland, Botswana, Namibia, Angola, Central African Republic, Nepal, Benin, Togo, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, Burundi, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Mongolia, Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Madagascar, Malawi, DR Congo, Republic of Congo, Sao Tome and Principe, Niger, Mali, Senegal, Tanzania, Djibouti, Nigeria, Uganda, Rwanda, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, and the expected 193rd UN member, South Sudan.

– There is even talk of adding a 194th UN member should the vote narrowly go in Palestine’s favor. The secessionist Republic of Somaliland, which has reportedly maintained low-level relations with Israel, may be sponsored for membership as a vote against or abstaining on Palestine. Israel’s allies in Africa, Ethiopia and Kenya, are currently prepared to propose Somaliland for membership if its vote is needed.

– Israeli diplomats and influential Jewish surrogates for the Jewish states are also applying a full court press on small European nations, including Iceland, Luxembourg, Malta, Cyprus, Slovenia, Montenegro, Estonia, Armenia, Macedonia, and even smaller Monaco, Andorra, Liechtenstein, and San Marino.

Israeli and U.S. strategy is that if enough nations can be cajoled or enticed to vote against the Palestine recognition resolution in the UN General Assembly, it will not be brought up again. Privately, WMR has been told by UN sources that Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and General Assembly President Joseph Deiss of Switzerland, have promised the U.S., Israel, and other Israeli allies to use any and all procedural rules to scuttle Palestine’s bid for UN membership.

Deiss recently tipped his hand by stating publicly that there was no way Palestine could be admitted to UN membership if the U.S. wielded its veto in the Security Council.

“Step two, “shock and awe” for Iran followed by a full scale invasion that, according to military experts directly responsible for drawing up our war plans, requires the fall of Pakistan, its “Balkanization and the military occupation of Baluchistan as a staging area.”

AIPAC, the Israel lobby used to, well, we don’t exactly know what they are “used to” but every politician in America is terrified of it for some reason, claims to have total control over the new congress.

It isn’t a “Jewish thing,” AIPAC got rid of 6 Jews who were too “pro-American” for their tastes. The last thing it is about is the security of Israel, a regional bully, a small land of ICBMs, germ warfare labs and warehouses loaded with American munitions which they sell around the world.

Israel and its thuggish “American” lobby terrifies a lot of people, congress, journalists certainly and as Noam Chomsky continually points out, its own citizens.

There is a real threat against Israel, one they perceive but many Americans are unaware of yet. Israel is terrified of a new 9/11 investigation. Even Noam Chomsky, top critic of many Israeli policies, had always stopped short of debunking 9/11. He was their last line of defense, Chomsky and Jon Stewart, pseudo-progressive “hand puppet.”

Chomsky doesn’t come out and say “Israel did it.” However, he does point out that the attack on Afghanistan was illegal and that there has never been a shred of proof that anyone in Afghanistan had ever been involved in 9/11 at any time, not Osama bin Laden, not the Taliban, nobody. In fact, when it came time for America to submit proof to justify attacking Afghanistan, America began a series of subterfuges that have left the United States branded an aggressor and criminal state.

When 9/11 moves away from Afghanistan, one of the two targets Israel gave us after 9/11, with the veritable flood of secret intelligence from the Mossad guiding Bush 100%, Israel is faced with real risks. When you look outside Afghanistan, you look at terrorist organizations long penetrated by Israeli intelligence, perhaps even under the control of Israel as with many of the groups now active in Yemen.

If this door is opened, if an honest investigation begins, Israel will quickly move from “trusted ally” to “rogue state” and “suspect number one.” Iraq and Afghanistan have been found innocent. 9 years has found no massive underground complex such as the one the Mossad told America of in Afghanistan or the weapons labs and secret stolen nuclear weapons they “convinced” Bush and Rumsfeld to invade Iraq for.

The other “job” the new congress was hired for is to destroy Iran. With America’s military stretched to the limit, exhausted from 9 years of civil wars, occupation, and endless “wheel spinning” in Afghanistan and Iraq, the Neo-con boondoggles of all time, the new “wet behind the ears” Israeli controlled legislators are expected to fall into line, recognizing who owns them.

$1.2 billion dollars bought the new congress, laundered drug money from Afghanistan and Mexico, Federal “bail-out” tax dollars, “recycled” into buying even more bail outs but mostly money tied to Israel and tied to war. The one issue every Tea Party member was silent on, orders from the top, was war on Iran. This is the cost of their office, sending 400,000 troops that America doesn’t have to fight a war against an enemy 3 times larger than Iraq, one whose military wasn’t already 90% depleted as was Iraq in 2003?

Oh, they didn’t tell you that, after Gulf War I, Iraq was never able to rearm and that America spent years fighting the leftovers of an enemy it had already defeated only a few years before? They didn’t tell you that other part, where the new troops are to come from.

We call it a “draft.”

Not only doesn’t America have a large enough army to fight in Afghanistan and keep our other obligations around the world, we are shy 250,000 men, even with every national guard and reserve unit used, all troops from Korea and Europe deployed and maybe even police and fire departments nationalized and put under federal control.

THERE ARE ALMOST 13 MILLION ARMED IRANIANS!

Those 20 million “illegal aliens” living in the United States are likely to be much more popular if Israel get’s their wish.

Notwithstanding that Iran has never attacked the United States nor every threatened to attack the United States and has proven repeatedly that it has no nuclear program, Israel is demanding of that its members of congress support a war against Iran, one that doesn’t involve a single Israeli soldier, exactly as with Iraq and Afghanistan, the two other surrogate wars we are fighting for Israel.

Is Israel planning to pay the estimated $2 trillion dollars they are asking America to spend or compensate the families of the 40,000 troops we are expected to lose? Thus far, nearly 500,000 Americans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan are either being compensated for war related disability, military or veteran retirement and Social Security. Are we aiming to make it an even million?

With very few exceptions, the current crop of Armani suited sycophants who occupy seats in both houses of Congress must go! Topping the list are those who pledge their allegiance to a certain foreign power in the Middle East. Israel and her supporters have proven to be nothing less than an embarrassment to our country and quite arguably our greatest liability.

Foreign policy experts agree that Israel’s government has threatened American interests worldwide. The latest raid on a Gaza peace flotilla has strained relations between the United States and its key Muslim ally, Turkey. Israel’s refusal to stop housing construction in Arab East Jerusalem has chilled relations with other Arab nations and has jeopardized moves to reach a peace deal, which is critical to America’s greater international interests.

General David Petraeus, who oversees America’s wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, has made links in recent months between long-running Arab-Israeli conflicts and American security interests. In March, Petraeus told members of the Senate Armed Services Committee:

“Israeli-Palestinian tensions often flare into violence and large-scale armed confrontations…The conflict foments anti-American sentiment, due to a perception of U.S. favouritism for Israel.”

In April, President Obama himself declared that conflicts in the Middle East were “costing us significantly in terms of both blood and treasure” and connected the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to the jeopardized safety of American soldiers embroiled in battle with Islamic nations.

A government that claims to be concerned about ensuring its people’s safety cannot do so while turning a blind eye to Israel’s atrocities and providing her with unconditional support. So why does this unholy alliance persist?

In terms of foreign policy, the United States and Israel have a relationship similar to a character from the 1985 film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. Israel is the diminutive “Master” who is harnessed to the shoulders of its enormously strong, but dim-witted bodyguard known as “Blaster,” or (for purposes of this analogy) the United States government. Together they form “Master Blaster”, an uneasy power-truce that ultimateley benefits the brains over the brawn.

In America, this alliance is maintained—in large part—through the American Israel Political Affairs Committee (AIPAC), which provides significant campaign contributions to political candidates and uses their influence to pressure politicians to work on behalf of Israeli interests. Most of their money comes from Israel, and most of the money that comes from Israel came directly from the American tax payer. Its one big money laundering scheme. As I pointed out in a previous article, approximately 1/3 of the total foreign aid budget of the United States is annually sent to Israel even though they comprise less than .001 of the world’s population and has one of the world’s highest per capita incomes. Former Congressman James Traficant rightly pointed out recently that between the direct foreign aid grants to Israel, along with all of the other benefits including trade compacts, economic and military assistance, “Israel gets approximately $15 billion a year from the American taxpayers. That $15 billion is $30,000 for every man, woman and child in Israel.”

In a recent interview with Russia Today, Cynthia McKinney, a former US Presidential candidate stated that Pro-Israel lobbying has bought both congress and the executive branch. Here is a list of the top AIPAC contribution recipients:

Shaking these compromised criminals from their lofty posts and kicking them to the curb may seem like a monumental task, but the sea tide of change is definitely turning in our favor.

This week, a group of liberal progressives heckled Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) during a convention speech in Washington D.C. An angry crowd screamed, “Stop funding Israeli Terror!” Some held banners, several flipped her the bird and many more threw trash. At one point, one of her aids broke into her speech and warned “Ma’am, they’re throwing stuff…we have to leave.”

In April, during the California Democratic Party Convention, Congresswoman Jane Harman (D-CA) got into a little tryst with insurgent Democratic challenger, Marcy Winograd. Harman was practically booed off the stage by a hostile caucus of liberal progressives who were more than displeased with her authorization of the Iraq War and other pro-Israel stances.

That same month, Senator Mike Pence (R-IND) received a similar reception at the latest Southern Republican Leadership Conference. After coming out in support of the construction of illegal Israeli settlements in East Jerusalem, Pence pledged, “America stands with Israel,” which drew just about as many jeers as it did cheers. This sort of outcry at a GOP function is unprecedented and would have been considered unthinkable less than ten years ago.

As we are starting to see, candidates who show unwavering and unconditional support for Israel are becoming pariahs on the campaign trail. Support for Israel among Democrats has taken a 13-point drop over the last year from 55% in 2009 to 42% in 2010. In contrast, support for Israel among the GOP has remained relatively the same, dropping only one point.

It will be interesting to see what transpires from now till November following last week’s brutal terrorist attack on humanitarian aid ships, collectively known as “The Freedom Flotilla, by Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). At least nine people were killed, including one American who was shot, execution style, with four bullets to the head. Others were beaten and tased.

The international community has almost unanimously condemned Israel for this criminal act. But, in true form, the United States came to her defense. Over the past week, more than a dozen Senators and 60 members of the House of Representatives gave statements in support of Israel’s terrorism and the assassination of one of our citizens.

The most disturbing statement came from Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA) who recently told reporters that he intends to seek the prosecution of any U.S. citizens who were aboard or involved with the Freedom Flotilla.

“The Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996 makes it absolutely illegal for any American to give food, money, school supplies, paper clips, concrete or weapons to Hamas or any of its officials,” Sherman said on the Israel Project call conflating Hamas and Gaza’s civilian population. “And so I will be asking the Attorney General to prosecute any American involved in what was clearly an effort to give items of value to a terrorist organization.”

Sherman also said that he plans on working with the Department of Homeland Security to make sure that any non-U.S. citizen involved with or aboard the Flotilla are excluded from entering the U.S.

One of the American’s who may be subject to Sherman’s persecution is retired US Navy veteran Joe Meadors, who was not only a victim of the assault on the Freedom Flotilla, but was also a victim of a previous Israeli assault some 43 years ago.

On June 8, 1967, Israeli warplanes attacked the USS Liberty off the coast of Egypt, where it was surreptitiously positioned to intercept radio communications. Joe Meadors was serving on board that ship. The attacks were deliberate and in broad daylight, involving many flyovers that dropped napalm and continuous strafing on a clearly marked American ship. There was a torpedo hole near the boiler room and thousands of bullet holes throughout the ship. Napalm lingered in the air. Almost three-dozen men died and over 170 more were wounded. Israel intended to sink the ship and blame the attack on Egypt in order to draw America into the Six Day War. Their attempt failed. Though the ship sustained massive damage, Captain William McGonagle was able to bring the vessel within a few miles of the coast of Israel. The ship stayed afloat, with the American flag still flying off its mast.

Joe Meadors is a man who twice suffered at the hands of Israel’s brutality and now is expected to suffer at the hands of her servants in the United States government…a government that he gallantly served.

I would urge all of those who consider this to be unacceptable to contact Brad Sherman and let him know how inappropriate his actions are. You may also want to remind him that US financial support for Israel is itself a criminal act. The State of Israel has refused to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and have illegally pursued a nuclear weapons program. The 1976 Symington Amendment to the Foreign Appropriations Bill of 1961 forbids the United States from giving foreign aid to any nation that is developing nuclear technology outside the NNPT.

It should be clear by now that those who serve Israel cannot effectively serve the people of the United States. With the severe economic crisis that we face here at home, coupled with an environmental disaster of epic proportions brewing in the Gulf, we need politicians that will put America first, second and last.

Dr. Sabrosky, who is part Jewish and a former U.S. Marine, argues that only the Mossad, representing the Israeli far-right, has the organization, discipline, skills, and above all geopolitical motivation to pull off 9/11, which enabled the American invasion of Iraq. Sabrosky says although money was made by many individuals by the wars, in overarching terms only Israel is the winner.

Rarely remarked upon in discussion of this kind is that the Israeli right's goals in the Middle East have long been public knowledge, promoted by Israeli and dual-citizenship Neocons for some time. In a 1982 article in the Israeli journal Kivunim, the journal of the Department of Information of the World Zionist Organization, Israeli scholar Oded Yinon, formerly attached to the Foreign Ministry, reiterates the old idea that Israel's best course for long-term safety, prosperity, and possible expansion lay in its neighbors being broken up into many weaker, squabbling states. Yinon envisioned Iraq broken into a Shiite south, a Sunni middle, and a Kurdish north, with other countries thereby destabilized along the same lines. Although the invasion of Iraq has been called an ongoing disaster for America, with troops unable to withdraw due to the threat of full-blown civil war, by another yardstick the invasion has been a resounding success.
