Smile! Full-Body Scanners Arrive at Bradley
Full-body scanners are coming to Bradley International Airport.
The scanner, known as “backscatter” imaging creates what looks like a chalk etching of you, au natural.
The scanners are meant to “unobtrusively screens passengers for metallic and non-metallic threats,” according to the Transportation Security Administration.
The scanners are just being deployed, so it’s too early to know how local travelers feel about screening technology that creates revealing images to ensure that you’re not carrying any threats on an aircraft.
Across the country, however, full-body scanners have been controversial...

Those full-body scanners the Transportation Security Administration has deployed in airports across the country have raised numerous privacy concerns. They can, after all, see right through clothing and provide a very detailed view of a person’s most intimate anatomical features — so detailed, in fact, that when a TSA screener’s genitalia were spotted by his coworkers during a training session and became an object of ridicule, the screener assaulted one of those making fun of his puny manhood. They’re also detailed enough that Nigerian aviation security officials have been getting their jollies from the images the Lagos airport’s scanners are producing, according to a report from the Nigerian newspaper ThisDay.
The scanners were installed in Nigerian airports after “underwear bomber” Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, who was from Lagos, attempted to blow up a Detroit-bound airliner last Christmas. The scanners are only intended for use on U.S.-bound passengers, but ThisDay found that other passengers were being subjected to them as well, through such underhanded tactics as turning off one of the conventional scanners, leaving passengers with the unenviable choice of standing in a long line for the remaining conventional scanners or submitting to the full-body scanner.
In addition, the newspaper observed that “during off-peak periods, the aviation security officials … usually stroll from the cubicle located in a hidden corner on the right side of the screening area … to catch a glimpse of some of the passengers entering the machine and immediately go back to view the naked images, in order to match the faces with the images.”...

Feds Radiating Americans
As an antiterror measure, the US government has deployed mobile X-ray technology to randomly scan cars and trucks. But the measure is riling privacy proponents.
Atlanta
For many living in a terror-spooked country, it might seem like a great government innovation: Use vans equipped with mobile X-ray units to scan vehicles at major sporting events, or even randomly, for bombs or contraband.
But news that the US is buying custom-made vans packed with something called backscatter X-ray capacity has riled privacy advocates and sparked internet worries about "feds radiating Americans."...

While illegals and hardcore drugs flood into the country from across the border, authorities target truck drivers in Atlanta

Federal authorities do not concern themselves about the flood of illegal immigrants and drugs crossing the border every day, they’re more worried about radiating American truck drivers at internal checkpoints with mobile scanners that shoot dangerous x-rays through both vehicles and passengers.
As we reported last month, the federal government has acquired hundreds of backscatter x-ray scanners mounted in vans that they are now using to randomly scan vehicles, passengers and homes in complete violation of the 4th amendment and with wanton disregard for any health consequences.
An example of their expanding use was reported by WSBTV yesterday, after federal agents from several agencies, including Homeland Security, the Department of Transportation, and the TSA, set up an internal checkpoint on Interstate 20 just west of Atlanta and detained truck drivers for half an hour or more at a “state-owned inspection station” while they were scanned with a bomb detection device.
Officials admitted there was no specific threat that justified the checkpoint, and although it was labeled a “counter-terror operation,” the scans were also being conducted in the name of “safety”.
Watch the video here.
Backscatter x-ray vision devices mounted on trucks are already being deployed inside the United States to scan passing individuals and vehicles in complete violation of the Fourth Amendment. Similar to naked airport body scanners, the devices fire x-rays outwards which are then absorbed by dense objects or the human body. Frequent exposure to low doses of radiation can cause cancer and birth defects, according to a report by the Inter-Agency Committee on Radiation Safety.
American Science & Engineering, a company based in Billerica, Massachusetts, has sold many of the devices to U.S. law enforcement agencies, who are already using them on the streets for “security” purposes.
“Without a warrant, the government doesn’t have a right to peer beneath your clothes without probable cause,” points out Marc Rotenberg, executive director of EPIC. “Even airport scans are typically used only as a secondary security measure. If the scans can only be used in exceptional cases in airports, the idea that they can be used routinely on city streets is a very hard argument to make.”
As we have warned from the very beginning, everything you see being rolled out in the airports is eventually designed to hit the streets as Americans become prisoners in their own communities, constantly harassed, scanned and surveilled by an oppressive state.
Mobile scanners for crowds that would be used at football matches and other public events have already been announced, as have proposals to fit lamp posts with CCTV cameras that would X-ray scan passers-by and “undress them” in order to “trap terror suspects”.
Body and vehicle scanners are just one tool authorities plan to implement on a widespread basis as part of our deepening decline into a hi-tech militarized police state.
Homeland Security is already implementing technology to be enforced at “security events” which purportedly reads “malintent” on behalf of an individual who passes through a checkpoint. The video below explains how “Future Attribute Screening Technology” (FAST) checkpoints will conduct “physiological” and “behavioral” tests in order to weed out suspected terrorists and criminals.
The clip shows individuals who attend “security events” being led into trailers before they are interrogated as to whether they are terrorists while lie detector-style computer programs analyze their physiological responses. The subjects are asked about their whereabouts, and if they are attempting to smuggle bombs or recording devices into the “expo,” proving that the technology is intended to be used at public events and not just airports. Individuals who do not satisfy the first lie detector-style test are then asked “additional questions”.
The implementation of ‘Checkpoint USA’, where citizens are routinely stopped, searched and radiated by federal VIPER teams is further evidence of how America is crumbling into a Soviet-style police state where the presumption of innocent until proven guilty is abolished and the 4th amendment eviscerated.
Privacy organizations and civil rights lawyers need to activate immediately to bring lawsuits against the federal government for unleashing this tyranny upon the American people as part of the bid to create a chilling atmosphere that ends all dissent and makes the people fearful of their government as they are made to prove they are not criminals or terrorists on a day to day basis while a high-tech slave pen is constructed around their entire existence.

SALISBURY, Md. — In the wake of last year's swine flu pandemic, this year's standard flu shot includes the H1N1 vaccine. That has caused concern for at least some people getting the shots, pharmacists here say.
Manufacturers this year are including the H1N1 antigens along with those of two other strains in the standard vaccine. Craig Schury, pharmacist for Pemberton Pharmacy in Salisbury, said this has scared some potential customers away.
"People are somewhat leery about it, but it just happens to be one of three strains in this year's shot," he said. "It's made the same way as the regular flu shot was last year."
Schury said there are normally a mixture of strains in the shots and the majority of his customers weren't concerned.
He said even though he tries to let his customers know what they are receiving, vaccine providers aren't required to verbally tell clients they are getting the H1N1 vaccine. But, he said, they are required to provide a written document that lists all the included strains...

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the West Germans were desperate to prevent the Stasi's top codebreakers from falling into the wrong hands and set up a company to hire the East German cryptographers. Now the former Stasi scientists develop technology used by Angela Merkel and NATO.
Every morning, while going to his office in Berlin's Adlershof district, Ralph W. passes a reminder of his own past, a small museum that occupies a room on the ground floor of the building. The museum could easily double as a command center run by the class enemy in an old James Bond film. A display of coding devices from various decades includes the T-310, a green metal machine roughly the size of a huge refrigerator, which East German officials used to encode their telex messages.
The device was the pride of the Stasi, the feared East German secret police, which was W.'s former employer. Today he works as a cryptologist with Rohde & Schwarz SIT GmbH (SIT), a subsidiary of Rohde & Schwarz, a Munich-based company specializing in testing equipment, broadcasting and secure communications. W. and his colleagues encode sensitive information to ensure that it can only be read or heard by authorized individuals. Their most important customers are NATO and the German government.
Rohde & Schwarz is something of an unofficial supplier of choice to the German government. Among other things, the company develops bugproof mobile phones for official use. Since 2004, its Berlin-based subsidiary SIT, which specializes in encryption solutions, has been classified as a "security partner" to the German Interior Ministry, which recently ordered a few thousand encoding devices for mobile phones, at about €1,250 ($1,675) apiece. Even German Chancellor Angela Merkel has used phones equipped with SIT's encryption technology. In other words, the Stasi's former cryptographers are now Merkel's cryptographers...

The Obama administration is using the threat of terror to demonize domestic opposition on both sides of the political spectrum
Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet.com
Wednesday, September 29, 2010
The terrorists are up to their old tricks again – using the threat of violence as a psychological ploy to intimidate voters before an election. But these terrorists don’t live in caves in central Asia, they head up federal agencies, governments, and Hollywood production studios.
Just as former Homeland Security chief Tom Ridge admitted that DHS would issue fake terror alerts shortly before elections in a bid to influence the outcome during the Bush era, the Obama administration is mimicking the same tactic.
Over the last couple of weeks we have seen an explosion in terror alerts, with the latest revolving around an alleged plot to launch Mumbai-style massacres on US as well as European cities.
Since it ultimately emerged that the mastermind behind the Mumbai massacre was CIA agent David Headley, warnings from the same intelligence agencies about similar attacks being planned should be treated as a direct threat. Throughout the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, the Central Intelligence Agency played a key role in Operation Gladio, a program of false flag terror attacks on soft targets that were designed to demonize political opposition and “force the public to turn to the state to ask for greater security,” according to the testimony of Gladio agent Vincenzo Vinciguerra.
In 2000, an Italian Senate investigation found that the 1980 Bologna train bombing, which killed 85 people, was carried out by “men inside Italian state institutions and … men linked to the structures of United States intelligence,” so when federal agents claim they are radiating American truckers with x-ray devices in a bid to stop Madrid-style train bombings, which was the justification cited for a 4th-amendment busting travel checkpoint on Interstate 20 just west of Atlanta this week, their reasoning doesn’t hold much weight.
In attempting to “force the public to turn to the state to ask for greater security,” the establishment hopes to derail the momentum of Tea Party candidates like Rand Paul and Sharron Angle, whose entire campaigns are built on the premise of turning away from the state and giving power back to the individual. Manipulating voters by threatening terror worked for the Republicans in 2004, but the Democrats might have to go a step further if they hope to use it as a deciding factor in 2010.
Following the FBI raids on anti-war activists last week, it’s clear that the Obama administration now considers its political adversaries as both those on the left who have abandoned their support for Obama over his continuation of Bush’s wars, and those on the right who have sworn to resist the seemingly ceaseless march of statism. This probably equates to about 70 or 80 per cent of politically active Americans who are now labeled “domestic terrorists” by their own government. Recall that the Department of Defense now considers any form of protest as “low level terrorism”. As we have seen from the MIAC report, the spying case in Pennsylvania, and a host of others in recent years, the federal government defines “terrorist propaganda” as any material critical of the state.
Eager to distract people from the fact that every major terror attack in recent decades has been carried out with the aid of governments and intelligence agencies, Hollywood propaganda shows are making sure Americans know who to blame when the next federal building blows up – the Tea Party. The recent series premiere of CBS’ CSI Miami featured a plot which revolved around “a terrorist with Tea Party leanings,” played by Justin Bieber, who was seen to attend Tea Party-style rallies before planning to bomb a Las Vegas Police Department funeral.
This is yet another example of “predictive programming,” identifying the culprits of any such domestic terror attack before it even occurs, no matter who is really behind the attack, so when a Timothy McVeigh style character who believes in the constitution and gun rights is dragged out as the patsy, TV-watching zombies instantly know he’s guilty and there’s little need for a real investigation.
Conservatives who have dismissed government-sponsored terror as an invention of the loony conspiracy fringe better brush up on the history of Northwoods, Operation Gladio, 9/11, and the Oklahoma City Bombing, because the Obama administration is by all means ruthless enough to stage a false flag attack and use it to demolish the reputation of the Tea Party, just as Bill Clinton exploited the FBI-directed OKC bombing to go after talk radio and the patriot movement in the 90’s.
Indeed, it was only two months ago that former Clinton advisor Robert Shapiro wrote in the Financial Times that the only thing that could save Obama’s tenuous grip on power was a terror attack on the scale of Oklahoma City or 9/11.
Don’t be fooled into thinking that people like Rahm Emanuel, the knife-wielding son of a former Irgun terrorist who bombed hotels, won’t be prepared to resort to desperate measures in a bid to neutralize the snowballing success of an anti-establishment political climate which threatens to seriously impinge upon the power monopoly of the Washington elite, the Israeli lobby, and the rest of the new world order kingpins who are sitting ever more uncomfortably in their ivory towers as the election gets closer and closer.

Second Amendment expert John Lott was due to give presentation on right to concealed carry on campus
Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet.com
Tuesday, September 28, 2010
UPDATE: John Lott appeared on The Alex Jones Show today and indicated that University officials were looking for a reason to cancel the speech before the incident today. “The Dean for the law school expressed concern about me talking about this subject so I think they had some trepidation to begin with,” said Lott.
A shooting at the University of Texas campus that was initially blamed on a lone nut took on a political aspect after it emerged that the incident coincided with a speech by second amendment expert John Lott about the right to concealed carry that was due to take place tonight but has since been cancelled.
The Associated Press is now reporting that police are investigating two separate crime scenes after a gunman opened fire inside a library then fatally shot himself early this morning. Authorities are still searching for a second suspect and the University is on lock down with all classes having been cancelled.
Shortly after the incident, the Austin-American Statesman somewhat sardonically reported that the John Lott event, which was organized by UT Students for Concealed Carry on Campus, had been cancelled as a result of the “unfortunate coincidence” of it falling on the same day as this morning’s incident.
“I don’t want to comment on any political aspects of this,” said Jeff Shi, the president of UT Students for Concealed Carry on Campus, “I hope everything turns out well and the only casualties are the bad guys.”
Was the timing of the shooting just an “unfortunate coincidence” or a deliberate ploy to undermine and cancel the Lott event amidst a nationwide push to allow students the right to concealed carry? With robberies and other crimes on campus soaring, more students are demanding they be authorized to protect themselves,
The timing of mass shootings, although thankfully in this case there were no victims aside from the gunman, routinely coincide with the passage of stringent gun laws or debates about concealed carry on campus.
The 2007 Virginia Tech massacre, in which the perpetrator Seung-Hui Cho, killed 32 people and wounded many others, was preceded by a campus gun ban that prohibited “unauthorized possession, storage or control” of firearms on campus. This prevented the dozens of victims from being able to properly defend themselves against the killer.
The only “political aspect” behind the “coincidence” of the shooting happening on the same day as the second amendment event is the fact that if the gunman or gunmen had been more successful in their rampage, students who had exercised their gun rights and adopted concealed carry would have been far more protected than those who had not.
Indeed, presuming that the danger is now over with the gunman dead, there would have been no better time than tonight for Lott to give his speech about Second Amendment issues on campus.
However, as a consequence of this amazing “coincidence,” Lott’s presentation has been postponed with no indication of when it will be rescheduled.
It remains to be seen whether the corporate media will play up the connection between the shooting and the Lott speech as a means of demonizing the Second Amendment, but given how the establishment has ceaselessly exploited mass shootings in the past to attack the rights of the victims to defend themselves, don’t be surprised if the talking points in reaction to this story start to take on this very character.

DHS engages in desperate bid to adopt legally binding acceptance of dangerous devices as Dubai and Italy terminate their use

Amidst a global backlash against naked airport body scanners, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is attempting to corral 190 nations into signing a binding agreement that will force them to adopt the increasingly unpopular devices which have been slammed on both health and privacy grounds.
“Napolitano will make her pitch in Montreal to the International Civil Aviation Organization, a United Nations arm that sets global aviation standards. The nearly 200 nations that make up ICAO will agree Wednesday to improve aviation security through better technology and more sharing of information about terrorist threats, ICAO Secretary General Raymond Benjamin said in an interview,” reports USA Today.
Napolitano is still trying to flog a dead horse in using the Christmas Day underwear bomber as a boogeyman with which to scare other countries into adopting the body scanners, despite the fact that the devices wouldn’t even have stopped Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab from passing through security screening.
What should have stopped him was the fact that he was on a terror watchlist and had no passport, but thanks to a decision by the US State Department not to revoke his visa, Abdulmutallab was allowed to board the plane, with the help of a well-dressed Indian man who assured airport officials, “we do this all the time”.
The Obama administration swiftly exploited the terror scare created by the incident to ram through an intensification of the war in Yemen as well as mandating the lucrative roll out of full naked body scanners.
Within hours, former DHS chief Michael Chertoff lauded body scanners during interviews as the all-encompassing solution, without mentioning the fact that one of the foremost clients for his security consulting agency, the Chertoff Group, was someone heading up a company that manufactures the machines.
Napolitano’s effort to force nearly 200 countries to adopt a binding agreement on implementing body scanners is undoubtedly a reaction to the increasing unpopularity of the devices and their rejection by several nations.
In July, Dubai’s two airports, which are major international transport hubs for passengers traveling to both Europe and Asia, announced that they were terminating use of the scanners “out of respect for the privacy of individuals and their personal freedom.”
This was followed just last week with an announcement by the Italian government that they would cease operating body scanners in the airports of Rome, Venice and the southern city of Palermo, having already terminated them in Milan.
Frequent fliers in the United States have labeled the devices a “disaster,” complaining that they take three to five times longer to pass through than a traditional metal detector.
The European Commission has expressed concerns about the health effects of the scanners and advised that they should not be used on pregnant women, babies, children and people with disabilities. Despite governments claiming that backscatter x-ray systems produce radiation too low to pose a threat, the Inter-Agency Committee on Radiation Safety concluded in their report that governments must justify the use of the scanners and that a more accurate assessment of the health risks is needed.
“The Committee cited the IAEA’s 1996 Basic Safety Standards agreement, drafted over three decades, that protects people from radiation. Frequent exposure to low doses of radiation can lead to cancer and birth defects, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,” reported Bloomberg.
Privacy fears surrounding the machines were realized last month when it emerged that authorities had been storing naked images of Americans who had passed through the scanners, despite claiming all along that the devices didn’t have the capability to save the images.
Since their implementation at the start of the year there have been a series of instances where authorities have abused the power afforded to them by the scanners, including an incident later denied by Heathrow Airport where airport officials told Indian film star Shahrukh Khan that they had printed out and circulated images of his naked body.
A clear case of abuse occurred when TSA employee Rolando Negrin was scanned by one of the devices during a training session and later subjected to “psychological torture” by his colleagues who teased him for having a small penis.
“Negrin wrote that, despite his pleas, coworkers would not cease mocking him after the scanner gave them a revealing look at his genitalia,” reports The Smoking Gun. “He recalled that he was mockingly asked, “Roly, what size are you?” Coworkers, he added, called him “little angry man,” laughed off his pleas for compassion, and abused him in front of passengers.
A culmination of these privacy controversies and health concerns has clearly jeopardized US authorities’ plans to make the body scanners a universal feature of all major airports globally. With many other countries increasingly coming to the understanding that the risks body scanners pose to both privacy and health outweigh any potential benefits, Big Sis Napolitano is in a race against time to force adoption of the devices or see them discarded permanently as just another tool used by the state to harass innocent travelers while genuine terrorists like Abdulmutallab are given State Department clearance to board airliners.

Defense counsel warns 'fair trial' impossible under military rulings
Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin
FORT MEADE, Md. – An Army judge has made it "impossible" for a career medical officer to get a fair hearing on charges he refused to deploy to Afghanistan because of concern that obeying orders in the chain of command under an ineligible commander in chief would be illegal, his attorney says.
The rulings came today from Col. Denise Lind, who, in effect, told Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin to pound sand. Rocks actually. He faces up to four years at hard labor if convicted in his case.
"We got absolutely slammed today," said Paul R. Jensen, lead counsel for the defense. "It's impossible for us to have a fair trial under these rulings."
Jensen continued, "The judge did what she thought was right, but the result is to deprive us of any opportunity to have a defense."
Lakin believes any order issued under Obama's authority as commander in chief of the armed forces may not be valid because his eligibility to serve as president is unproven. After fruitlessly requesting the Army to verify Obama's eligibility to serve as president, Lakin wrote directly to Obama asking for proof of eligibility...

Fox host faces torrent of 'Where's birth certificate' on his own website
WASHINGTON – Glenn Beck may pooh-pooh the issue of Barack Obama's presidential eligibility, but some of his most loyal fans are emphatic in demanding, "Where's the Birth Certificate?"
On Beck's own website, a thread started today shows those concerned about Obama's unwillingness to document that he is a "natural-born" citizen, as the Constitution requires, running 9-to-1 over those who believe it's a non-issue.
At 2:11 p.m., a reader posted a comment on his website, The Blaze, about Democratic House Majority Whip James Clyburn's warning that if the GOP takes control of Congress in January, it will issue subpoenas regarding Obama's eligibility.
The original post included a video clip of Beck and guest Dinesh D'Souza dismissing the eligibility issue.
But within hours, more than 100 comments had been posted, and according to WND's tally, 45 of those comments questioned Obama's eligibility, and only five supported Beck's position...

Retired officers weigh in on case challenging Obama's authority to give orders
Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin
Disagreement arose today among supporters of Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin, the Army doctor facing military court-martial for refusing orders to deploy to Afghanistan after questioning Barack Obama's constitutional eligibility to be president.
A group of retired military officers organized as the Veterans Council and the United States Patriot Union in Sheridan, Wyo., issued a white paper calling on Lakin's legal defense team to change strategy.
The so-called "White Paper No. 3" urged tea-party members and Congress members who signed the "Pledge to America" to support Lakin's right to discovery at his court-martial. The officers want Lakin to obtain Obama's long-form birth certificate and other relevant birth documents from Hawaii's Department of Health, as well as college and law-school records, to determine whether the president applied as a foreign-exchange student.
On Sept. 2, Army Col. Denise R. Lind ruled in a preliminary hearing to Lakin's scheduled October court-martial that Lakin could not pursue Obama's presidentialeligibility as part of his legal defense...

An amalgamated cybersecurity bill that lawmakers hope to pass before the end of the year includes new powers which would allow President Obama to shut down not only entire areas of the Internet, but also businesses and industries that fail to comply with government orders following the declaration of a national emergency – increasing fears that the legislation will be abused as a political tool.
The draft bill is a combination of two pieces of legislation originally crafted by Senators Lieberman and Rockefeller. One of the differences between the new bill and the original Lieberman version is that the Internet “kill switch” power has been limited to 90 days without congressional oversight, rather than the original period of four months contained in the Lieberman bill.
In other words, President Obama can issue an emergency declaration that lasts 30 days and he can renew it for a further 60 days before congress can step in to oversee the powers.
The new powers would give Obama a free hand to not only shut down entire areas of the Internet and block all Internet traffic from certain countries, but under the amalgamated bill he would also have the power to completely shut down industries that don’t follow government orders, according to a Reuters summary of the new bill.
“Industries, companies or portions of companies could be temporarily shut down, or be required to take other steps to address threats,” states the report, citing concerns about an “imminent threat to the U.S. electrical grid or other critical infrastructure such as the water supply or financial network.”
The only protection afforded to companies under the new laws is that they would have to be defined as “critical” in order to come under government regulation, but since the government itself would decide to what companies this label applies, it’s hardly a comforting layer of security.
“Even in the absence of an imminent threat, companies could face government scrutiny. Company employees working in cybersecurity would need appropriate skills. It also would require companies to report cyber threats to the government, and to have plans for responding to a cyber attack,” states the report.
As we have highlighted, the threat from cyber-terrorists to the U.S. power grid or water supply is minimal. The perpetrators of an attack on such infrastructure would have to have direct physical access to the systems that operate these plants to cause any damage. The recent Stuxnet malware attack, for example, was introduced and spread through a physical USB device, not via the public Internet.
Any perceived threat from the public Internet to these systems is therefore completely contrived and strips bare what many fear is the real agenda behind cybersecurity – to enable the government to regulate free speech on the Internet.
Handing Obama the power to shut down certain companies or businesses is likely to heighten already existing fears that the new cybersecurity federal bureaucracy could be used as a political tool.As we reported back in March, the Obama administration’s release of the Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative, a government plan to “secure” (or control) the nation’s public and private sector computer networks, coincided with Democrats attempting to claim that the independent news website The Drudge Report was serving malware, an incident Senator Jim Inhofe described as a deliberate ploy “to discourage people from using Drudge”.
Senator Joe Lieberman appeared to admit that the legislation had more to do with simply protecting US infrastructure when he told CNN’s Candy Crowley that the bill was intended to mimic the Communist Chinese system of Internet policing.
“Right now China, the government, can disconnect parts of its Internet in case of war and we need to have that here too,” said Lieberman.
As we have documented, the Chinese government does not disconnect parts of the Internet because of genuine security concerns, it habitually does so only to oppress and silence victims of government abuse and atrocities, and to strangle dissent against the state, a practice many fear is the ultimate intention of cybersecurity in the United States.
The implementation of the cybersecurity apparatus would represent another huge expansion of the federal government, creating an Office of Cyber Policy within the executive branch and also “A new National Center for Cybersecurity and Communications (NCCC) within the Department of Homeland Security, led by a separate director who would enforce cybersecurity policies throughout the government and the private sector.”
Lawmakers have indicated that they intend to push through the bill before the end of the year, though with Congress set to leave Friday amidst deadlock on a number of issues, cybersecurity looks like it will have to wait until mid-November, providing its opponents with extra time to point out the inherent threats the legislation poses to free speech and free enterprise.

One faction of the GOP that has remained particularly wary of Rand Paul's Senate candidacy are neoconservatives who are still angry about his father Ron Paul's criticism of Israel and his disdain for Bush-era military adventurism.
In the past, Rand has echoed his father's views, opposing the Iraq War, and from the neocon point of view, the Paul family's isolationism is as whacked out as anything hatched by the anti-war left.
Now, it turns out, Rand is looking to mend fences. He made a quiet pilgrimage and met privately with some of Washington's most influential neocons, as well as the pro-Israel lobby, delivering them a not-too-subtle message: Never mind my father's views, you guys can trust me now...

Feds To Seek More Extensive Internet Eavesdropping Authority
WASHINGTON — Federal law enforcement and national security officials are preparing to seek sweeping new regulations for the Internet, arguing that their ability to wiretap criminal and terrorism suspects is “going dark” as people increasingly communicate online instead of by telephone.
Essentially, officials want Congress to require all services that enable communications — including encrypted e-mail transmitters like BlackBerry, social networking Web sites like Facebook and software that allows direct “peer to peer” messaging like Skype — to be technically capable of complying if served with a wiretap order. The mandate would include being able to intercept and unscramble encrypted messages.
The bill, which the Obama administration plans to submit to lawmakers next year, raises fresh questions about how to balance security needs with protecting privacy and fostering innovation. And because security services around the world face the same problem, it could set an example that is copied globally...

A six-month test run of the controversial ‘naked’ body scanner began at the Hamburg Airport on Monday. While the Interior Minister hailed the security measure as “a victory for safety,” concerns about passenger privacy continue.
The standard security checks will remain in place at the fifth-largest airport in Germany, but passengers will have the option of undergoing the full-body scan by the new machine.
“Today is a step towards improved air security in Germany’s airports,” Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière said as the new machine was unveiled, adding that the event was “a victory for safety in civilian air travel.”
The trial period will analyse three basic requirements: the certainty that they pose no health risks, protect individual rights and improve aviation security. Data will be analysed at the end of the six months to determine the long term success of the scanners...

America's X Files: Top U.S. airmen to accuse Air Force of cover-up as they claim UFOs have been deactivating nuclear missiles since 1948
It may sound like a Spielberg movie plot, but if senior U.S. airmen are to be believed, this scenario is not science fiction.
They claim that since 1948, aliens have been hovering over UK and U.S. nuclear missile sites and deactivating the weapons– once even landing in a British base.
Furthermore, they warn, our governments are hushing the activity up.
Captain Robert Salas, who, along with six others is to break his silence on the subject, said: ‘We’re talking about unidentified flying objects, as simple as that.
‘They’re often known as UFOs, you could call them that...

We've been told that 9/11 changed everything.
Is it true?
Let's look:
- The decision to launch the Iraq war was made before 9/11. Indeed, former CIA director George Tenet said that the White House wanted to invade Iraq long before 9/11, and inserted "crap" in its justifications for invading Iraq. Former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill - who sat on the National Security Council - also says that Bush planned the Iraq war before9/11. And top British officials say that the U.S. discussed Iraq regime change one month after Bush took office
- Cheney apparently even made Iraqi's oil fields a national security priority before 9/11
- The Patriot Act was planned before 9/11
- Cheney dreamed of giving the White House the powers of a monarch long before 9/11
- Cheney and Rumsfeld actively generated fake intelligence which exaggerated the threat from an enemy in order to justify huge amounts of military spending long before 9/11. And see this
- Cheney and the rest of the neocons lamented - before 9/11 - that America could not truly project its power globally without the justification of a "new Pearl Harbor"
- The decision to threaten to bomb Iran was made before 9/11
- The government knew that terrorists could use planes as weapons -- and had even run its own drills of planes being used as weapons against the World Trade Center and other U.S. high-profile buildings, using REAL airplanes -- all before 9/11
- The government heard the 9/11 plans from the hijackers' own mouths before 9/11
- Cheney was in charge of all counter-terrorism programs for the United States before (and on) 9/11. See this Department of State announcement, this CNN article and this essay
- It was known long before 9/11 that torture doesn't work to produce accurate intelligence, but is an effective way to terrorize people

The Iranian leader did not accuse the U.S. of conspiring to murder thousands of its own people to create a pretext for launching wars as conveyed by the US media.
A large portion of the American people, on the basis of media reports, probably think that during his UN speech Sept. 23 Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared that the U.S. government secretly arranged for the 9/11 attacks. He did not say that, however.
In its Sept. 24 article about the speech The New York Times headline read: "Iran Leader Says U.S. Planned 9/11 Attacks." The first paragraph declared: "President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran made a series of incendiary remarks in his speech to the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday, notably the claim that the United States orchestrated the Sept. 11 attacks to rescue its declining economy, to reassert its weakening grip on the Middle East and to save Israel."
On the basis of his remarks the U.S. led 33 nations in theatrical walk out from the General Assembly while he was talking. And the next day, in an interview with the BBC's Persian service, President Barack Obama said Ahmadinejad's 9/11 remarks were "offensive. It was hateful. And particularly for him to make the statement here in Manhattan, just a little north of Ground Zero, where families lost their loved ones, people of all faiths, all ethnicities who see this as the seminal tragedy of this generation, for him to make a statement like that was inexcusable.”...

Doc missing statement candidate 'qualified' under U.S. Constitution
WorldNetDaily.com
Posted: September 25, 2010
By Bob Unruh
It long has been documented that when Barack Obama was picked by the Democratic Party to be its 2008 presidential candidate, only one state – Hawaii – was sent a document from Nancy Pelosi certifying that he was qualified under the requirements of the U.S. Constitution.
Now a series of blogs reports are heating up the issue again, this time revealing documents that showed it apparently was Hawaii's local Democratic Party that refused to include that certification on its paperwork naming Obama as its candidate.
Even today, the Hawaii Democratic Party was staying mum, declining attempts by WND to obtain a comment on why it handled the 2008 presidential race paperwork as it did.
The original report came from a commentator at Canada Free Press who revealed the Democrats failed to certify their candidate's eligibility in 49 of the 50 states.
"In most states," writer JB Williams said at the time last year, "it appears that the DNC never certified constitutional eligibility for Barack Hussein Obama, despite their many claims of proper vetting and certification, all of which we now know to be false."
As WND reported, Williams released copies of two documents apparently prepared by Democrats to certify Obama as their nominee for president. One contains language affirming his constitutional eligibility, filed inHawaii where state law requires the specific language, and another omits the language, filed in the remaining 49 states.
Now a series of reports, including those from blogger JBJD, the butterdezillion blog, Obama Release Your Records blog and the Fellowshipofminds blog, are revealing the local state party's stance in 2008.
The issue also has been addressed on a YouTube video already:
The blog reports cite each other, as well as apparent Democratic Party documents posted online from the 2000, 2004 and 2008 elections.
The images reveal the change in wording that Hawaii Democrats adopted when Obama was their candidate.
In choosing Al Gore and Joe Lieberman in 2000, this was their statement:
"THIS IS TO CERTIFY that the following candidates for President and Vice-President of the United States are legally qualified to serve under the provisions of the United States Constitution and are the duly chosen candidates of both the state and the national Democratic Parties by balloting at thePresidential Preference Poll and Caucus held March 7, 2000 in the State of Hawaii and by acclamation at the National Democratic Convention held August 14-17, 2000 in Los Angeles, California."

The wording was almost identical on behalf of John Kerry and John Edwards in 2004:

But in 2008, the words missing include "the provisions of the United States Constitution." It states, "THIS IS TO CERTIFY that the following candidates for President and Vice President of the United States are legally qualified to serve under the provisions of the national Democratic Parties balloting at thePresidential Preference Poll and Caucus held on February 19th, 2008, in the State of Hawaii and by acclamation at the National Democratic Convention held August 27, 2009, in Denver, Colorado."

At "Fellowship," the blogger explained that each state party must certify that their candidate is constitutionally eligible to be president.
"What the Democratic Party of Hawaii's 2008 Certification of Nomination left out are these words: 'of the United States Constitution and are the duly chosen candidates of both the state and,'" the blogger wrote.
"In other words, by omitting the above words, the Democractic Party of Hawaii (DPH) was signaling the following: 1. DPH is merely certifying that Obama is legally qualified to serve as president by virtue of the ballots of the Democratic Parties of the 50 states. The DPH is not certifying that Obama is legally qualified to serve as president under the provisions of the U.S. Constitution! 2. The DPH is also saying that Obama and Biden are NOT the chosen candidates of the state ofHawaii," he concluded.
The butterdezillion blog noted "the Hawaii Democratic Party actually ignored their protocols in 2008 in order to specifically NOT certify Obama's eligibility as they had done for candidates in the past."
It was Williams who earlier released copies of two documents apparently prepared by national Democrats to certify Obama as their nominee for president.
The first includes a verification that Obama and Joe Biden, then-candidate for vice president, "are legally qualified to serve under the provisions of the United States Constitution."
One image of the certification for Barack Obama's nomination, including the affirmation Obama and Joe Biden "are legally qualified to serve under the provisions of the United States Constitution" |
The second form obtained by Williams appears identical. They both have the same typographical error in "though," but in this one, the verification of eligibility under the requirements of the U.S. Constitution is gone.
Another image of a certification, on which the certification of eligibility has been removed |
Williams reported that Republicans use a document universally that affirms their candidate's eligibility and that Democrats have used the form that omits the certification language in previous elections. But he nonetheless questions why the DNC certified Obama's eligibility only inHawaii.
Democratic National Committee officials have declined to comment on the issue of the multiple images. Pelosi and the White House also have declined to respond.
WND has reported on dozens of legal challenges to Obama's status as a "natural born citizen." The Constitution, Article 2, Section 1, states, "No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President."
Some of the lawsuits over the dispute question whether he was actually born in Hawaii, as he insists. If he was born out of the country, Obama's American mother, the suits contend, was too young at the time of his birth to confer American citizenship to her son under the law at the time.
Other challenges have focused on Obama's citizenship through his father, a Kenyan subject to the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom at the time of his birth, thus making him a dual citizen. The cases contend the framers of the Constitution excluded dual citizens from qualifying as natural born.
Complicating the situation is Obama's decision to spend sums estimated over $1 million to avoid releasing a state birth certificate that would put to rest the questions.
WND has reported that among the documentation not yet available for Obama includes his kindergarten records, Punahou school records, Occidental College records, Columbia University records, Columbia thesis, Harvard Law School records, Harvard Law Review articles, scholarly articles from the University of Chicago, passport, medical records, files from his years as an Illinois state senator, his Illinois State Bar Association records, any baptism records, and his adoption records.
