AMA Journal: Make Participation In Vaccine Trials Mandatory

Population should be forced to take experimental shots “for the greater good”

An article published by the American Medical Association’s Virtual Mentor journal advocates making participation in vaccine trials mandatory, arguing that people should be forced to take experimental shots in a similar vein to how jury service is compulsory.

The article, written by Oxford University’s Susanne Sheehy and Joel Meyer, is entitled Should Participation in Vaccine Clinical Trials be Mandated?

Concerned about the “distressing decline in the numbers of healthy volunteers who participate in clinical trials,” the piece argues that “Compulsory involvement in vaccine studies” should be considered for the “greater good of society.”

“Many societies already mandate that citizens undertake activities for the good of society; in several European countries registration for organ-donation has switched from “opt-in” (the current U.S. system) to “opt-out” systems (in which those who do not specifically register as nondonors are presumed to consent to donation) [10], and most societies expect citizens to undertake jury service when called upon. In these examples, the risks or inconvenience to an individual are usually limited and minor. Mandatory involvement in vaccine trials is therefore perhaps more akin to military conscription, a policy operating today in 66 countries. In both conscription and obligatory trial participation, individuals have little or no choice regarding involvement and face inherent risks over which they have no control, all for the greater good of society.”

Using the example of military conscription – the draft – to justify the idea of compulsory participation in vaccine trials, illustrates how the whole idea is completely rooted in authoritarian tendencies. The draft has its historical origins in slavery and has largely been abolished by developed nations.

And if you thought the use of the term “for the greater good of society” wasn’t downright creepy enough, the authors later propose tackling society’s reluctance to accept compulsory recruitment to vaccine trials by virtually advocating the arrival of a more deadly disease than swine flu in order to ensure “compulsory recruitment becomes a more palatable option.”

“Consider an infectious disease with a high transmission and mortality rate for which vaccine development were possible but limited by a shortage of volunteers willing to participate in clinical trials. Would mandatory participation in clinical trials then be an acceptable policy?” ask the authors, ruminating on how an “Increase (in) the severity of the disease in question,” would increase the likelihood of society accepting mandatory vaccine trials.

The authors conclude by bemoaning ethical considerations that would present a roadblock to the effort to force people to take experimental vaccines, proposing instead that a system of “mandated choice” be introduced to coerce people into agreeing to be given the shots.

Mandating that people take experimental vaccines is of course completely abhorrent, it violates the fundamental human right not to be forcibly medicated, and harks back to the dark days of eugenics, mandatory sterilizations, and episodes like the Tuskegee syphilis experiment.

The very reason why less people are willing to volunteer for vaccine trials is the fact that vaccines, whether approved or experimental, have been responsible for deaths and injuries worldwide in increasing numbers. The United States, which administers the highest number of vaccines to babies, has the highest infant mortality rate out of all developed nations, a connection that is no coincidence according to a recent medical study published in a prestigious medical journal.

Indeed, earlier this month GlaxoSmithKline was fined $93,000 dollars for its role in an experimental vaccine program in Argentina that killed 14 babies between 2007 and 2008.

For this authoritarian premise to even be considered in the AMA’s ‘Journal of Ethics’ is shocking, but the increasing move towards making vaccines mandatory is a wider phenomenon.

Last year, California passed a law that allows children to be given the Gardasil shot, which has been linked with thousands of adverse reactions and dozens of deaths, without parental consent.

Parents who try to remove their children from the ever-expanding list of “required” vaccine programs for school-age kids are being targeted by law enforcement. When Rachel Garmon told her doctor that she had taken the decision not to vaccinate her healthy 2 and a half year old son, she was subsequently visited by a Pennsylvania State Trooper who was tasked with investigating her “suspicious behavior,” despite the fact that Pennsylvania is one of the many states that allows vaccination exemptions on both religious and medical grounds.

The AMA article represents a shocking insight into the control freak tendencies of some of today’s most influential medical minds. Forcing people to take part in experimental vaccine trials that pose a serious risk to their health is totally contemptible and has no place in a free society.

Defense in Hutaree militia case oppose anonymous jury

Associated Press

hutaree-militia-mug-shots.jpgThis combo of eight file photos provided by the U.S. Marshals Service on Monday March 29, 2010 shows from top left, David Brian Stone Sr., 44, of Clayton, Mich,; David Brian Stone Jr. of Adrian, Mich,; Jacob Ward, 33, of Huron, Ohio,; Tina Mae Stone and bottom row from left, Michael David Meeks, 40, of Manchester, Mich,; Kristopher T. Sickles, 27, of Sandusky, Ohio; Joshua John Clough, 28, of Blissfield, Mich.; and Thomas William Piatek, 46, of Whiting, Ind.

Lawyers for eight people accused of being part of anti-government militia are opposing the use of an anonymous jury at an upcoming trial in Detroit.

The court file shows nothing official from U.S. District Judge Victoria Roberts. But in a filing Monday, defense attorney Richard Helfrick quotes her as saying in an email that "jurors will enjoy anonymity."

Trial is set for Feb. 7 for eight people accused of belonging to a southern Michigan militia called Hutaree. The government claims they were scheming to kill a police officer, then attack the funeral. The defense says they're guilty of nothing but meaningless bluster.

"The decision to empanel an anonymous jury is a drastic measure, which should be undertaken only in limited and carefully delineated circumstances," Helfrick said. "An anonymous jury raises the specter that the defendant is a dangerous person from whom the jurors must be protected, thereby implicating the defendant's constitutional right to a presumption of innocence."...[Full Article]

Ex-judge Mark Ciavarella Found Guilty in 'Cash for Kids' Trial - Confronted by Mother of Victim

Ex-judge Mark A. Ciavarella Jr. guilty in 'cash for kids' case

Philadelphia Enquirer

SCRANTON - A federal jury Friday found former Luzerne County Court Judge Mark A. Ciavarella Jr. guilty of racketeering in one of the nation's worst judicial scandals, a crime in which prosecutors said the former judge used children "as pawns to enrich himself."

In convicting Ciavarella of racketeering, the jury agreed with prosecutors that he and another corrupt judge had taken an illegal payment of nearly $1 million from a juvenile detention center's builder and then hidden the money.

The panel of six men and six women also found Ciavarella guilty of "honest services mail fraud" and of being a tax cheat for failing to list that money and more on his annual public financial-disclosure forms and on four years of tax returns. In addition, they found him guilty of conspiring to launder money...

SCRANTON – The distraught mother of a man who was jailed as a juvenile by former Judge Mark Ciavarella angrily confronted him outside a federal courthouse Friday, accusing him of being responsible for her son’s suicide.

Sandy Fonzo of Wilkes-Barre interrupted a press conference Ciavarella and his attorneys held after a jury rendered its verdict in his corruption trial, hurling expletives at him and telling him she hopes he “rots in hell.”

“My kid’s not here anymore. My kid’s not here anymore because of him. He ruined by (expletive) life,” Fonzo screamed through sobs shortly after Ciavarella’s attorney, Al Flora, began speaking.

Fonzo, who stood amid a crush of media interviewing Ciavarella, continued the verbal assault, pushing toward Ciavarella, who appeared stunned.

“Do you remember me? Do you remember my son? He was an all-star wrestler and he’s gone. He shot himself in the heart,” she screamed, her voice hoarse with emotion. “You scumbag. You ruined my (expletive) life.”

Fonzo was escorted away by security after she pushed forward and poked Ciavarella with her finger. She continued to yell at Ciavarella from across the street, gasping as she choked back tears.

“He was my son. I don’t have kids now. I don’t have anything. I’m not a mother. I’m not anything,” she sobbed...

A mom’s eternal anguish

Son died after his detention

The Times Leader

When Sandy Fonzo chided Mark Ciavarella following the verdict in the disgraced judge’s trial Friday, Karen Adamski knew too well the anguish the mother was experiencing.

“I know exactly what that mom was going through (Friday) when she was screaming and yelling about her son that committed suicide,” Adamski said. “It’s just the most horrible thing ever.”

Like Fonzo’s son, Adamski’s child, Brandyn Robbins, was incarcerated at the PA Child Care juvenile detention center, was sentenced by Ciavarella, and later committed suicide. Adamski, of Larksville, said Friday that while she can’t say precisely why her son killed himself, his brush with Ciavarella was a turning point for the worse in his life.

“I don’t know why he took his own life, but I know that had an impact on him,” Adamski said. “He was a very outgoing kid; always lit up a room, had a smile on his face, active in sports, and it just, it changed him.”...

Fort Hood Cover-Up?

Fort Hood witness says he feared there were more gunmen

Fort Hood, Texas (CNN) -- An Army officer testifying at a military hearing Wednesday that he first thought the rapid rate of gunfire suggested there was more than one shooter in last November's Fort Hood massacre.

Maj. Stephen Richter of the Army Medical Corps told in chilling detail that he felt the shooter stalking him and could see the red laser from the gunsight flickering in his eyes.

He said the gunman then turned away from him, distracted by gunfire from the civilian police officers who had rushed to the scene.

Richter, testifying via video link from South Korea, said all the shooting ceased when Maj. Nidal Hasan was brought down by police fire. Hasan is charged with killing 13 people and wounding dozens of others in the rampage.

Richter said he called out when he saw the gunman's uniform and identification badge. "I remember saying to the police officer, 'He is one of us,'" Richter said.

Still convinced there were other shooters, Richter said that after Hasan was felled by the police fire, he grabbed Hasan's handgun off the ground and prepared to fire it himself at any additional attackers. The gun was jammed, he said, and he burned his fingers on the barrel as he tried to clear it...

Witness: Told to erase video of massacre

FORT HOOD, Texas, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Two former U.S. military officials said ordering a soldier to erase cellphone videos of the mass shooting at Fort Hood, Texas, could be a crime.

Pfc. Lance Aviles, who escaped the shooting at Fort Hood last year that left 13 dead and at least 32 injured, said during an evidentiary hearing Friday for the accused, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, that an officer and a non-commissioned officer ordered him to delete the video on the day of the shooting, the San Antonio Express-News...

Harlem 'Trial' Finds Obama 'Guilty'

Pastor says incriminating information to be given to 'authorities'

NEW YORK – The controversial Harlem pastor who led a days-long "trial" of President Obama says the resulting "guilty" verdict and corroborating evidence will now be turned over to appropriate authorities, congressional and otherwise.

The event was held at Atlah World Missionary Church over the past few days, and its pastor, James Manning, claimed it to be the first "legal verdict" against Obama since he took office.

Focusing on allegations regarding Obama's status as a "natural born citizen" of the United States as well as the allegedly illegal "award" of a diploma from Columbia University, Manning insists new legal ground was broken.

The activist pastor says that under the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, citizens can legally hold a trial and arrive at a verdict, with the results turned over to appropriate government bodies for enforcement.

Manning claims the fact that the Secret Service, charged with protecting the president and investigating threats, allowed the "trial" to take place constitutes evidence it was legitimate.

"If the trial did not have legal standing, then why did the federal or city authorities not intervene to halt [the proceeding]?" he said. "We did not hide the trial, in fact we did our best to promote it. So if theauthorities had any problems why did they not act?"...
