50 U.S. Health Care Statistics That Will Absolutely Astonish You

The Economic Collapse Blog

The U.S. health care system has become one gigantic money making scam, and you are about to see the statistics that prove it. Today, the United States spends more on health care per person than any other country in the world by far. The health insurance companies and the big pharmaceutical corporations are raking in gigantic mountains of cash and yet the quality of the health care that we receive in return is rather quite poor. People living in Puerto Rico have a greater life expectancy than we do. Residents of Cuba have a lower infant mortality rate than we do. We are the most medicated population on the planet and yet we are also one of the sickest. If the U.S. health care system was a country, it would have the 6th largest economy on the globe and yet rates of cancer, heart disease and diabetes continue to increase. The U.S. health care statistics that you are about to read below are absolutely stunning. For as much money as we shell out for health care, we should have the greatest system in the entire world. But we don't. Something has gone horribly wrong. (Read More....)

ADHD Misdiagnosed In Nearly 1 Million U.S. Kids Say Researchers

Two studies published recently suggest there could be something wrong with the way ADHD is diagnosed in young children in the US, one found that nearly 1 million kids are potentially misdiagnosed just because they are the youngest in their kindergarten year, with the youngest in class twice as likely to be on stimulant medication, while the other study confirmed that whether children were born just before or just after the kindergarten cutoff date significantly affected their chances of being diagnosed with ADHD.

Papers on both studies by US researchers are in press, to be published in the Journal of Health Economics, the first being a corrected proof that was first available online in June, and the other appeared online on 4 August.

In the first paper, Dr Todd Elder, assistant professor of economics at Michigan State University, looked at a sample of nearly 12,000 children from the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study Kindergarten Cohort, which is funded by the National Center for Education Statistics. He analysed the difference in ADHD diagnosis and medication rates between the youngest and the oldest children in a kindergarten grade.

He found that the youngest children were significantly more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD and to be prescribed behavior-modifying stimulants such as Ritalin than their older classmates. He told the press that the "smoking gun" was that the diagnoses depended on the children's age relative to classmates and the teacher's perceptions of whether they had symptoms...

Medical Schools Can't Keep Up

As Ranks of Insured Expand, Nation Faces Shortage of 150,000 Doctors in 15 Years

The new federal health-care law has raised the stakes for hospitals and schools already scrambling to train more doctors.

Experts warn there won't be enough doctors to treat the millions of people newly insured under the law. At current graduation and training rates, the nation could face a shortage of as many as 150,000 doctors in the next 15 years, according to the Association of American Medical Colleges...

IRS Says Health Care Coverage Fines Not Punitive, But Admits Govt Can Keep Refunds If Fines Not Paid

(CNSNews.com) – IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman said on Monday that the health care bill signed into law last month by President Barack Obama is not “punitive,” but that the agency could withhold tax refunds if it determines a taxpayer does not have mandatory health care coverage and should pay a fine, as stipulated in the law.

The new health care law mandates that every American have health insurance, either on their own or through their employer. If a person refuses to buy health insurance, he can be penalized financially by the federal government...

F.D.A. Say Millions Got Unapproved Heart Pills

Doctors in the United States wrote more than four million prescriptions last year for nitroglycerin tablets, heart drugs placed under the tongue to reduce the chest pain angina or to stop a heart attack.

But the majority of the drugs sold had not been approved for sale, nor had their safety and effectiveness been vetted, by the Food and Drug Administration.

And many doctors, who discovered only last week that pharmacies were giving their patients unproved heart tablets, now say they have no way of knowing whether patients have suffered unnecessarily as a result...

Cuban Leader Applauds US Health-Care Reform Bill

HAVANA (AP) - It perhaps was not the endorsement President Barack Obama and the Democrats in Congress were looking for.

Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro on Thursday declared passage of American health care reform "a miracle" and a major victory for Obama's presidency, but couldn't help chide the United States for taking so long to enact what communist Cuba achieved decades ago...

The Healthcare Bill Was Always About Gaining More Control

If there was any doubt as to the American People not having true representation in Congress, I hope the passage of this bill makes it crystal clear. One of the latest polls leading up to the vote found that as high as 87% of the people were against it.

Even though the majority of people from all political persuasions were against Socialized medicine, many were not aware of the more egregious assaults on our liberties that were contained in this monstrosity. It was never about health care! It was about further control of our lives. Let us cover the real dangers contained in this bill, the things that mainstream media will not widely report on, if at all.

I want to first state as I have in past articles that the States don't have to play ball and abide by this unconstitutional act. Congress was supposed to handle matters between the States and between us and foreign countries. State Legislatures were supposed to handle matters within a State and We The People were to be the ultimate authority. The Constitution is very clear that no Federal Government was to have supreme power over the States. They were supposed to decide separate types of matters, therefore not causing conflicts between the two Obviously, trying to fight the health care bill made the popular misconception of having a supposed supreme federal government even more evident. Our founding fathers set up a Republican form of government, not a Democracy where the majority rules or a central government is the supreme law of the land. In a Republic, the Constitution is the law of the land and ours insures rights and guarantees of each individual citizen.

With all that said, if your State feels compelled to submit to this health care bill, let us now cover what is hidden in it that most are not talking about or don't even realize.

  1. It is not free.
  2. It is mandatory payments of premiums which will not only be enforced by the IRS, but will give the federal government open and unfettered access to every American's bank accounts.
  3. If your State had fought off the intrusion of a National ID card, this bill contains a National Medical ID card planned to have an RFID chip in it. It's purpose is to tie together your health records, bank accounts, financial records, criminal history and can track your movements throughout the country.
  4. Any health care plan that you currently have can be determined by the new federal health care commission to be not adequate and force you or your employer to change to whatever plan the federal authority dictates to you. The consequences of not changing are fines, forced payments and even possible jail time.
  5. All medical privacy is officially gone.
  6. It is mandatory to have a health care plan deemed by the federal government to be appropriate. If you are young, healthy and don't want it......too bad! All Medicaid eligible will be automatically enrolled and your income records and intrusion applies.
  7. Your health care will be rationed.
  8. The Commission will decide what treatments can be performed and if they are cost-beneficial.
  9. The government will decide your "end of life" plans and deem whether it is cost effective to do treatment or what matter of death would be appropriate.
  10. All doctors will get paid the same regardless of medical specialty causing many doctors to leave the profession.
  11. Employers that are self-insured will be audited.
  12. Employers must cover part-time employees.
  13. Government will restrict enrollment and care of "special needs" individuals.
  14. 15 new taxes or "fees" imposed on employers and individuals.
  15. Prohibition on hospital expansions.

Yes, this bill is "historic" but not for the reasons touted in mainstream media. I would advise contacting your State Representative and Governor to urge your state to ignore or block this ridiculous take over of not only medical care, but our civil liberties.

Health Care Law Signals US Empire Decline?

The passage of the health care law shows that the US empire is declining because it illustrates the fact that people expect the state to take care of them, David Murrin, the co-founder of Emergent Asset Management hedge fund manager, told CNBC.

On Tuesday, US President Barack Obama signed into law health care legislation that expands health coverage for the poor, imposes new taxes on the rich and forbids insurance practices such as refusing coverage to those with pre-existing conditions.

In their expansionary phase, empires force people to go out, seek risks and fend for themselves, Murrin said, reminding of the dismantling of the British empire after the war, when the National Health Service, which ensures universal health coverage in Britain, was created...

Obamacare: Culling The Babyboomers

Obama and the Democrats know you hate the health care takeover. In response, they will spend your money to launch an “immediate public relations blitz aimed at turning around Americans’ opinion of the health-care bill.”

According to the CIA’s favorite newspaper, the Washington Post, the PR propaganda blitz will work in three stages: the immediate aftermath of passage, the months leading up to the midterm election in November; and the next few years leading up to the 2012 presidential election.

scott brown

Obamacare is not about saving money. Establishment politicians do not save money. They borrow it from the bankers and crank the national debt through the stratosphere.

It is designed to make sure cowardly Democrats who did not want the American people to know they voted for Obamacare are not sacrificed by public outrage come the mid-terms.

Bilderberg darling and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said she believes people who dislike the bill will feel better as they learn more about it. Translation: the government will propagandize you to love the coming neofeudal banker and corporate serfdom. Like Winston Smith, you will learn to love your enslavement...

Ron Paul: IRS Will Steal More Money To Fund Health Care

Texas Congressman Ron Paul warns that last night’s passage of the health care reform bill will prompt the government to hire thousands of new IRS agents who will be used to steal money from taxpaying Americans to fund the new program.

Paul also told Fox News that the passage of Obamacare will only be repealed once the United States enters bankruptcy as a result of its exploding national deficit and runaway spending...

Ron Paul: National Bankruptcy will Repeal Obamacare - Not Republicans

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1UI21wL26I

Ron Paul tells it like it is: There is no "right" to healthcare. Obamacare will be repealed by a national bankruptcy. The IRS is hiring new agents to steal more money. Central economic planning has failed. A much bigger economic crisis is coming. And, every country in the world is technically bankrupt.

Health Care Bill Would Increase IRS

California Congressman Wally Herger says the Democrats’ health care bill will increase the size of the Internal Revenue Service.

Fri Mar 19, 2010

ListenListen to audio

House Republicans say the IRS will hire more than 16,000 new employees to enforce the so-called healthcare individual mandates requiring people to buy coverage.
Republicans also say the new healthcare bill will require 10-billion dollars to pay for new auditors, agents and employees at the IRS.
Herger says it’s another reason to oppose the legislation.
HERGER: “One-sixth of our entire economy to be taken over by Washington… by the federal government, with the IRS implementing this, enforcing it I should say is just one more outrage among many many outrages.”
Democrats say their overhaul plan will reduce health care costs over time – by making the size of the insurance pool larger. The House is expected to take a final vote on the plan Sunday with no Republican support.

Boehner: Pelosi's 'Scheme And Plot' Unprecedented In American History

In an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV Friday afternoon, House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, slammed Nancy Pelosi for trying to “scheme and plot” to pass the most radical healthcare reform bill ever promulgated.

If she succeeds, he says, it would set a precedent that “has never happened in American history.”

With a vote planned for this Sunday, Boehner still believes the GOP can stop the Democrats’ healthcare plan, which he calls a “giant leap” toward socialized medicine...

Kucinich Sells Out After Riding In Air Force One

Kucinich Sells Out On Health Care After Ride In Air Force One 170310Kucinich

Democratic Congressman Dennis Kucinich has bowed to intense pressure, culminating in a jaunt onboard Air Force One with President Obama, and decided to to flip his vote on the pending health care bill to help ensure its passage.

The representative from Ohio has repeatedly voiced his opposition to the bill, calling it “a giveaway to the insurance industry”.

“The fact is that one out of every three health care dollars goes for corporate profits, stocks options, executive salaries, advertising, marketing, the cost of paperwork – this bill doesn’t change that.” he said.

Just last week, Kucinich told MSNBC’s Countdown that that even if it meant he had the deciding vote in the House, he would oppose the legislation, effectively signing its death warrant.

As recently as Sunday, Kucinich was still reiterating the same points. In an column for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, he wrote:

“Even with the few modest improvements in the bill, the insurance companies will still have dozens of loopholes to deny care and continue to find ways to leave Americans with the unpayable bill.”

Today, however, Kucinich announced at a Capitol news conference that he will vote yes on the latest version of the bill...

Kucinich Will Vote To Kill Government Run Health Care

Democratic Congressman Dennis Kucinich has stated that he is willing to effectively kill the government run health care bill by voting against the party line and sticking to his own principles.

Kucinich explained his position on MSNBC’s Countdown last night, noting that the absence of a public option to provide competition to insurance companies is pivotal.

“This bill represents a giveaway to the insurance industry,” The representative from Ohio said. “$70 billion dollars a year, and no guarantees of any control over premiums, forcing people to buy private insurance, five consecutive years of double-digit premium increases.”...

Canadian Premier Opts For U.S. Health Care

'My Heart, My Choice,' Williams Says Defending Decision For U.S. Heart Surgery

An unapologetic Danny Williams says he was aware his trip to the United States for heart surgery earlier this month would spark outcry, but he concluded his personal health trumped any public fallout over the controversial decision.

In an interview with The Canadian Press, Williams said he went to Miami to have a "minimally invasive" surgery for an ailment first detected nearly a year ago, based on the advice of his doctors.

"This was my heart, my choice and my health," Williams said late Monday from his condominium in Sarasota, Fla.

"I did not sign away my right to get the best possible health care for myself when I entered politics."...

Amish Families Exempt from Insurance Mandate

WASHINGTON — Federal health care reform will require most Northern New Yorkers — but not all, it turns out — to carry health insurance or risk a fine.

Hundreds of Amish families in the region are likely to be free from that requirement.

The Amish, as well as some other religious sects, are covered by a "religious conscience" exemption, which allows people with religious objections to insurance to opt out of the mandate. It is in both the House and Senate versions of the bill, making its appearance in the final version routine unless there are last-minute objections.

Although the Amish consist of several branches, some more conservative than others, they generally rely upon a community ethic that disdains government assistance. Families rely upon one another, and communities pitch in to help neighbors pay health care expenses...
